A magna cum laude alumnus of Hofstra University, New York where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and the State University of New York Health Science Center at Downstate College of Medicine in New York where he earned his medical degree, Dr. P. Leo Varriale has been practicing Orthopedic Surgery since 1984.
A Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Varriale has held the titles of Team Physician for the 1996 Olympic Baseball Team-USA, Physician for World Baseball Classic 2006 and Advisory on International Baseball Association Medical Commission and Nassau County Sports Commission. His numerous teaching experiences include “Orthopaedic Aspects of Aquatic Sports” and “Steroid Abuse in Athletics”. He currently lectures to Orthopedic Surgical Physician Assistants at Mercy Medical Center on a monthly basis.
Chief of Sports Medicine at Mercy Medical Center, New York, Dr. Varriale also held the Director of Orthopedics title from 1991 to 1995.
